What is TPL?

TPL is really two programs in one. In one form, it is the most comprehensive and easy-to-use program available to directly control your Marklin Digital components (engines, signals, switches, etc.). Many different screens (windows) are available to allow you operate your layout the way you want. There are dozens of user-configurable options and features which allow you to customize TPL to your specific needs and desires.

But TPL is much more than a "manually operated" control system. Unlike most other computer control programs, TPL allows you to quickly and easily develop command sequences which allow fully automatic or semi-automatic control of your layout. The program offers many useful commands to make it easy to sequence train events. This sequence language is easy to learn and incorporates nearly 30 different powerful commands.

Lastly, TPL also contains a design utility which enables you to "draw" a representation of your layout, complete with switch, signal, and contact track identifiers. Once you've drawn your layout, you can use it with TPL in either of two ways. As a "manual" device, the drawing acts as a track board. You merely need to click on signals and switches to make them change position -- and their position is instantly reflected on the drawing. When using the automatic sequencing feature of TPL, all solenoids on the drawing change color/position automatically as their position is changed by the sequencer. You can even combine manual and automatic control -- if a sequence file is operating, you can still "manually" operate your solenoids from any of the many TPL control screens, or even your Control 80 and Keyboards. No other program offers this type of flexibility!

Perhaps you would like to view some of the many screens TPL has available to setup, view, and control your digital layout:

TPL Main Screen
Digital Controls
Multiple Engine Control
Master Status & Control
Configuration
Solenoid Testing
Sample Layout Design
Debug / Trace Screen

TPL has also received excellent reviews from various train publications.

See the introductory letter for additional information on TPL.

Minimum Requirements

To run TPL, you will require:

If you have the Marklin Digital Interface #6050 or #6051, you will also require the Marklin Digital Central Unit (#6020) or Marklin Digital Control Unit (#6021). If you have a digital layout already running, you already have one of these.
